Hallmarking
* All charms comply with the current hallmarking legislation, and are hall marked if they meet the necessary weight of over 7.58 grams, however since most charms weigh under this they will not be hallmarked, they are still all stamped 925 sterling silver.
Charm Types
* Charms come in a variety of forms which include;
2D - the same design on both sides
3D - exact miniature version of the object as it would be in real life
hollow - two pieces of the charm soldered together forming a 3D charm filled with air, very light.
flat backed, Stamped or Tag - thin flat charms cut or machine stamped from sheets of sterling silver may easily bend.
Charm Finishes
* Charms can have a variety of finishes;
Plain - plain polished sterling silver.
Satin - matt appearance.
Antique - After finishing and polishing charms are dipped in an antiquing solution that serves to highlight the detail of the charm and to provide a protective coating to prevent tarnishing.
Enamel - After sterling silver charms have been finished and polished, glass enamel is applied to the charm and then fired in a kiln. The glass powder melts adhering to the silver, to produce a hard wearing coat of enamel to the charm.

If you have already started a charm bracelet the charms from our site can be added to virtually any bracelet.
What is a Split Ring?
* A split ring is basically like a very small key ring, it springs open when you slide a charm onto it and then holds itself 'shut' once you have done so.
This type of ring is perfect for adding charms to bracelets if you do not want to take the item to a jewellers. The only downside is they only work with thin bracelets as if the rings are stretched to far they will not return to their original state and thus not providing a secure method of attachment.
What is a Lobster Clasp?
* A lobster clasp is Charms a sterling silver lobster clasp so that can be clipped onto necklaces and bracelets, and used to create charm tags.
What is a Jump Ring?
* This is a sterling silver ring used when one wants to have a charm soldered to a bracelet.
Soldering provides one of the most secure methods of attachment but means once placed charms can not really be moved.
This can be done at a local jewellers.
What is a No Solder Jump Ring?
* This ring can be used to attach a charm to a charm bracelet without soldering but while still providing an excellent way of adding to a bracelet. These jump rings are of the highest quality and saw cut so they can be opened and closed to provide an almost seamless join. This method of attachment is the most ideal as it provides the benefits of soldering without either the cost or the permanency.
These provide virtually as strong a connection as soldering, and if a no solder ring is used charms can be added and removed from a bracelet for example if tastes change or you want to add a charm representing something that changed since the bracelet was assembled. This is the method we use to attach charms to all the bracelets we assemble for our customers.
All Gee Gee Images charms come with a sterling silver jump ring. However, Gee Gee Images can supply any of our charms with lobster clasps, split rings or a solder jump ring, although the majority of Gee Gee Images charms will be supplied on a no solder jump ring unless you specifically request otherwise. (No additional charge will be made for any of these alternative charm fastenings).
